Meeting Together
Getting together frequently with friends who we respect as musicians and team partners is at the heart of who we are and what we do. We enjoy celebrating our achievements, sharing our passion, developing our skills and making a difference! We run three group meetings as part of our ACE programme:
SYNERGY Our weekly Synergy session is our main group meeting where we:
Each session is packed with lots of fun, energy and activity. We aim that everyone leaves a session feeling satisfied, confident, inspired and appreciated. We encourage maximum participation and achievement by engaging our groove agents through:
Our volunteer session tutors, who each specialize in one or more instruments and musical disciplines work closely with the activity groups and tutorial groups. Senior groove agents are encouraged by the tutors to show initiative in helping run small group activities. Synergy plays a key role in equipping and enabling our groove agents for their exciting and challenging opportunities with the Groove Agent Collective. Consistent values, morale and musical grounding are the essential building blocks underlying every successful Groove Academy initiative. GROOVE AGENT COLLECTIVE The Groove Agent Collective has been very priviledged to perform in numerous community and fundraising events and has hosted various concerts and events of its own. We continue to seek out new opportunities to showcase and share our talents while gaining valuable performing experience. The Collective meets on Wednesday evenings from 7pm - 9:30pm at the Hampton Junior School and occasionally at the Hampton Methodist Church hall / Hampton Youth Project for additional rehearsals. Unlike Synergy, these meetings are rehearsal-based and prepare the group for upcoming events and longer term, larger scale performance projects. As it is not always feasible for all groove agents to perform at every event - or in the case of rehearsing for a major production, to have every agent attend every rehearsal, attendance of Collective rehearsals is determined by the line-up for a given event or project module. X-TRA The X-TRA sessions are all-day clinics and workshops sessions, designed to give groove agents that extra boost towards achieving their musical objectives for the term. A wide variety of musical topics are covered - all relating to the following aspects of musicianship:
These sessions are usually run on a Saturday at the Hampton Methodist Church hall from 10am-4pm and are scheduled as needed. Sessions we have run in the past include:
